The Role
The Grants Manager is responsible for managing the full life cycle of grant funding. This includes identifying and researching funding opportunities, developing proposals and budgets, coordinating timely submissions, ensuring post-award compliance, preparing reports, maintaining records, and supporting funder relationships. The role works closely with program and finance teams to align grants with organizational priorities and ensure funding sustainability. This position plays a critical role in helping the organization secure financial resources to support its mission and programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Prospecting
- Identify public and private grant opportunities that align with the organization's mission, programs, and strategic priorities.
- Conduct thorough research on prospective funders including foundations, corporations, and government entities.
- Maintain a pipeline of potential grants with deadlines, eligibility requirements, and funding priorities.
Grant Writing and Submission
- Write and edit clear, compelling, and persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.
- Analyze data to identify community needs and strategically target funding requests to align with funder priorities and maximize impact.
- Collaborating with program and finance staff to develop accurate and funder-aligned budgets for grant proposals.
- Submit complete and timely proposals in accordance with each funder’s guidelines.
Grant Management and Reporting
- Maintain a grant calendar to track deadlines, submission dates, reports, and renewal opportunities.
- Monitor compliance with grant requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
- Prepare and submit interim and final reports, in coordination with program staff.
- Track and record grant revenue and expenses in collaboration with the finance team as needed.
Communication and Relationship Building
- Serve as a liaison between the organization and funders, responding to inquiries, and providing updates as needed.
- Cultivate relationships with current and prospective funders through regular communication, updates, and reporting.
- Represent the organization at funder meetings and events as appropriate.
Recordkeeping and Systems Management
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of grant activities in a grant management system or database.
- Preparation of development reports and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support fundraising and development team initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (with a preference for a master’s) in a relevant field such as nonprofit management, communications, public health, or public administration (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in grant writing and development in a nonprofit setting.
- Demonstrated success in securing grants from foundations, corporations, or government entities.
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Familiarity with budgeting and program evaluation concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with grant tracking tools or donor databases (e.g., Salesforce, Network for Good, Monday.com, GrantHub) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proactive, self-directed problem solver with strong initiative.

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary range $55,000 - $65,000, with opportunity for growth based on performance.
- Health benefits are currently not provided. We do offer a 401(k) retirement plan with a 1% employer match, along with a generous vacation and holiday allowance.
