  • Mission

The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust embraces all measures that compliment the conservation, preservation and protection of wildlife. These include anti-poaching, safe guarding the natural environment, enhancing community awareness, addressing animal welfare issues, providing veterinary assistance to animals in need, rescuing and hand rearing elephant and rhino orphans, along with other species that can ultimately enjoy a quality of life in wild terms when grown.

    About Us

For 40 years now, The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) has been at the forefront of wildlife conservation and habitat preservation in Kenya. DSWT is best known for our pioneering work in rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned baby elephants back into the wild.

Founded in 1977 by Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick DBE in honor of her late husband, famous naturalist and founding Warden of Tsavo National Park, David Sheldrick MBE, our work encompasses a much broader vision that ensures the sustainable protection of wildlife, habitats, and communities for generations to come through our Orphan's Project, Mobile Veterinary Units, Anti-Snaring Teams and Aerial Surveillance, as well as doing community outreach with local communities and schools. We work together with Kenya Wildlife Service, who plays an important part in safeguarding Kenya's beautiful wildlife and habitats.
