Friends of Childe Hassam Park

  • About Us

Our mission is to completely renovate and maintain a city-owned park at the corner of Columbus Avenue and Chandler Street in Boston's South End. The park has been closed to the public for over 15 years due to its deteriorated condition.

Childe Hassam was a well known Impressionist painter born and educated in Boston and lived on the same block as the park. In keeping with the name, the park will have an arts theme and will serve as a venue to a variety of arts oriented events for neighborhood adults and children.

His works are displayed in many museums and historical societies including National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., New York Historical Society, Saint Louis Art Museum, Smithsonian American Art Museum and The Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio.
