HOPATCONG COMMUNITY GARDEN

  • Mission

HCG shall be dedicated to supporting and operating recreational community gardens for the residents of the Borough of Hopatcong, New Jersey and to the promotion of sustainable, ornamental and edible plant culture for the benefit of its members. The HCG will provide a space to garden organically, thus improving the quality of life, stimulating interaction among Hopatcong residents, producing food, preserving green space and providing opportunities for multicultural and intergenerational connections.

    About Us

Formed in 2012, The Hopatcong Community Garden (HCG) is dedicated to providing and supporting a space for Hopatcong residents to garden organically.

The garden currently consists of 46 leased plots and has 173 members. We hold monthly meetings discussing gardening and environmental issues. In the spring and summer we have events to form bonds among the gardeners. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts tend to the Helping Hands plot in which food grown there is donated to those in need. IN 2015 we donated over 400 pounds of fresh produce.
