About Us
TecAp is the innovative technology program of The Institute for Development, Evaluation, Assistance and Solutions (IDEAS www.ideasnet.org), a 40 year old international organization with experience leading microfinance, microenterprise, and now microfranchise development in Nicaragua.
IDEAS provides training on microfranchising, a methodology that applies the concepts of commercial franchising to work with low income entrepreneurs. IDEAS provides evaluation services to social franchises.
The TecAp technology program started in 2010 and has several components:
- Training rural women to sell renewable energy products in areas off the electrical grid
- Installing roof-top solar systems as well as industrial systems for rural production
- Training youth how to become solar installers and repairers
- Identifying appropriate technology products to meet the productive needs of low-income farmers and farming cooperatives
