  • About Us

Girls Incorporated® of San Diego County is an affiliate of the national Girls Incorporated headquartered in New York, N.Y. The network of local nonprofit organizations serves 125,000 girls ages 6-18 annually at over 1,400 sites in 350 cities across the United States and Canada. For 44 years, we have served girls living in San Diego County. We are governed by a local board of directors comprised of key leaders in our community.

    Our Mission

To inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold.

    Strong

Girls Incorporated offers programs that flex and strengthen the entire range of girls' muscles. Through our interactive programs, girls build their athletic skills and competitive spirit; strengthen their ability and interest in science, math, and technology; and fortify their self-respect and determination.

    Smart

All Girls Incorporated programs are founded on solid research and evaluation. Girls Inc. commissions and conducts original research to understand and address issues affecting girls' and young women's lives today.

    Bold

Girls Incorporated encourages girls to advocate for themselves. Taking actions on their own behalf enables girls to think of themselves as leaders at a young age, assess community needs, and take action to improve their communities. Empowered girls use their talents and life skills to achieve their goals and to protect their rights and the rights of others.

    Who We Serve

We serve ALL girls, ages 6 to 18. Many Girls Inc. participants are considered "at risk" through no fault of their own, due to circumstances such as family poverty, gang surroundings and even homelessness. More than 83% are minorities and 73% come from families with an annual household income of $25,000 or less. Still, girl-based challenges affect all young girls regardless of income, ethnicity, or education. Members in our programs come from all walks of life and background.

    Our Programs
Girls Inc. members and programs participants receive individual attention from trained professional staff and caring volunteers. You'll find that Girls Inc. is able to bring regular programs and membership to almost anywhere in San Diego County.
