  • Mission

Philosophically , The Broad Stage is informed by the belief that the Arts can particularize as well as universalize the human experience; entertain as well as enlighten; inspire appreciation for the talents of others as well as inspire self-exploration and creativity; and they can deepen the sense of connection to the human community, and to oneself. Recognizing these multiple possibilities of artistic expression and audience participation, the mission of The Broad Stage is to create an open, caring, challenging yet supportive artistic setting, where artistic excellence, creativity, collaboration, and the free exchange of ideas can take place. The Broad Stage is committed to providing access to the Performing and Visual Arts Center to all sectors of the Los Angeles community so that new and future generations of artists and audiences will renew the possibilities and promise of the Arts.

    About Us

The Broad Stage, designed by architect Renzo Zecchetto, is a state-of-the-art 541-seat multi-purpose main stage performance space, surrounded by a 4,000 square foot art gallery, a 99-seat classroom/rehearsal space, a flexible multi-purpose room, 29 practice rooms, and a complete music academy. Constructed on the site of the original Madison Elementary School through a partnership between Santa Monica College, the Santa Monica Unified school District, and the Madison Project Foundation, the facility will present professional programs and performances that reflect the cultural diversity, the multiplicity of interests, and the range of ages that characterize the students of SMC and the residents of the region. The Broad Stage is the Westside's new home for the Arts, designed to serve as a public performing and visual arts center, as well as a showcase and springboard for established and emerging talent.
