About Us

The Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the local environment and historic legacies of two exceptional parks in Woodside, California. The Friends organization encourages environmental awareness and provides educational opportunities for children and adults through community participation in the enjoyment of our parks. Our work is guided by our theme: Hikes, History and Horses.

Friends provides programs and events in two historic redwood parks. We lead hikes, showcase local history, promote connection to the environment, and celebrate the horse heritage in San Mateo County. We inspire people to enjoy and steward the parks through educational, environmental, and preservation programs, promoting positive public health and community benefits.

The Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks organization was founded in 1992 and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2002. Dedicated to environmental education and land conservation, the early programs of the Friends supported various aspects of park management. In 2008 the Friends raised funds for and directed renovations of the Folger Estate Stable that were completed in 2010. The Folger Estate Historic District includes the main stable, carriage house, blacksmith barn, dairy house and stone walls and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
