    About us

    We are Alliance for Community Transformation Uganda acronym ACT-Uganda formerly Opit Kic. The organization was legally registered on the 20th day of December of the year 2019 as a community-based organization by the Lamwo district local government with registration number L/CD/87971 and incorporated by the Uganda Registration Bureau service on the 23rd day of December ,the year 2019 with registration number 80020002281943 respectively.

     Our vision

    Our mission

    To support marginalized and vulnerable girls and women of Lamwo district to achieve their full potential ;to empower and inspire their active involvement in education, business ,employment, leadership and community life. We seek to achieve this by harnessing the economic and leadership power of girls and women, promoting social inclusion, transforming social norms and practices, and influencing policy.

    We are proud to deliver a broad range of services to girls and women in Lamwo ,inspiring them to become great future leaders and more economically empowered.

    Our areas of support include:education,sexual reproductive health rights, economic empowerments and leadership development in pursuant of SDG 5-Gender equality.

    Our history

    The alliance for community Transformation Uganda was founded in 2016 by a group of young collectives(boys and girls) as a charity group to increase opportunities for vulnerable and marginalized girls and women. It provided psycho social support services .There was also an economic empowerment initiatives and advocacy for group of girls and women faced with multiple violence and negative social norms and practices.

    Track record of experience: The achievements of the group however, in a few years has attracted a number of agencies and donors’ interest to support and work with us. Upon attaining legal credentials ,the organization managed to win grants from prominent international /local donors as summarized below:

    Achievements/awards

    Certificate of recognition from KINGFO

    Certificate of most innovative approach in gender transformative from Girls first fund

    Over 1030 girls and women trained on business skills

    6 groups of VSLA supported

    Over 1400 girls,boys,men and women received different SRHR services

    50 households of gender model families of 5 average family size empowered with knowledge on gender roles.

    300 girls trained with skills of making sanitary reusable pads.

    Community outreach on ending child marriage reached over 2,050 local populace.
