Token Ibis

Token Ibis is an all-volunteer grassroots nonprofit based in Albuquerque, NM. We have one simple mission: prove that philanthropy has the power to mobilize our youth toward social impact. Here’s how it works:

1. Token Ibis raises money from community members who want to support systematic change.
2. We take that money and give it to hundreds of high school and college students to donate to the causes that they care about.
3. 100% of the money goes to fuel the nonprofits in the area working to change lives.

Social progress doesn’t need more money or more data. It needs more people. By embracing democratized philanthropy, we can empower an entire generation of students whose passion and energy vastly outstrips their disposable income. We can show entire populations of disadvantaged youth that they too can be part of the solution.

Token Ibis’s flagship service is a digital donation platform (available at https://app.tokenibis.org) custom-made to facilitate a fun and engaging donation experience for our students. However, you don’t have to be a student to use it. With just few clicks, anybody can put money on the app and start to engage with our amazing partnering organizations.

However, it doesn’t have to stop there. The world is entering a new and exciting age of money. We hope that this idea, which we call Universal Basic Philanthropy, will fundamentally change the way that society thinks about charity. Will it pan out the way we anticipate? Probably not. But all big ideas need to start somewhere, and, together, we have the chance to be the first ones to make it happen right here in Albuquerque.
