  • About Us

The Alliance for Social and Economic Justice is a collaboration between cultural workers and community organizers to provide community-serving advocacy, culture, media, services and educational activities for low-income people. A project of the Alliance for Social and Economic Justice, the Center for Social and Economic Justice, acts as an incubator for emerging organizations, facilitates new coalitions between existing organizations, and promotes collaboration and mutual support between organizations. It provides workspace, meeting space, event space, support services and some shared office space and storage space to community-serving organizations.

The Center for Social and Economic Justice also…

    • provides workshops, using popular education techniques, for working people to develop an understanding of substantive democracy and how to project an inspiring vision that a better world is possible.
    • places music, art and culture at the center of an organizing strategy to help people and their communities heal themselves, build bridges and inspire each other to struggle to fulfill their dreams for the future.
    • builds a regenerative and restorative approach to heal the planet, respect labor and nourish the spirit.
    • creates a multilingual space for language justice so people can communicate, learn and strategize together.
    • works with tenants of the Redstone Labor Temple to ensure that the historic building continues to serve the people as it has for more than a hundred years.

The Center is a collaboration of the San Francisco Living Wage Coalition, Trabajo Cultural Caminante, Crossroads Women’s Center, Global Women’s Strike, the Bay Area Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador and the Global Exchange Mexico Program.
