Aspire International

About Us

Aspire International targets the untapped potential of the Middle East’s greatest resource – its people.

They face a stifling lack of opportunity due to chronic unemployment and cultural barriers, especially for women and youth. In Iraq over 50% of the population are under the age of 19. This new generation wants to be independent, free, and respected in their community. They must fight against the odds to achieve their dreams.

With Aspire, they can win their fight.

Since 2010 our team has implemented livelihoods, empowerment, and human rights programs in almost every governorate of Iraq and the KRI. Our model is centered on the use of local people, partners, and purchases wherever possible. This approach is cost effective, supports the local economy, and permits easy access to communities with nominal security concerns.

It also ensures that our programs receive local buy-in, from community leaders to directorate and federal officials, and are appropriate to the local cultural context. This has enabled us to tackle highly sensitive rights and empowerment issues such as women’s rights and combating gender-based violence. We serve all in need, with a special focus on women and girls as the most effective investment in the future of their communities.
