Soap Box Derby is a gravity racing sport for boys and girls ages 7 to 20. The GCSBD consists of current and past racers, their parents and guardians, and volunteers from the local community who work together to promote derby racing in the Chicago area. Members and participants will actively recruit new drivers through promotions at schools, churches, boys and girls and teenager events, and local community events. All American Soap Box Derby Sanctioned Rally races will be held in the spring and fall and the Local qualifying races will be held in June. Open monthly meetings will be held to discuss ongoing promotions, organizing races, planning of events, finances, fundraising, and race day planning. Construction clinics will be held to introduce families on how to build, maintain, align, repair, and race Official All American Soap Box Derby cars. The GCSBD has been in existence since the 1980's and is a nonprofit 501C3 organization.
