BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS MOUNTAIN REGION

  • Mission

It is our mission to build and support 1-to-1 relationships that ignite the biggest possible futures for youth. It is our vision that all children achieve their potential in life.

    About Us

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a one-to-one youth mentoring program that pairs Bigs (Volunteers) with Littles (children/youth) in an ongoing relationship that supports, empowers, and impacts the child's life in many positive ways.

Big Brothers Big Sisters defends the potential of every child we serve by pairing them with a positive, caring role model in one of our 2 successful programs.

In the community-based program, we match youth ages 6 to 18 with a volunteer adult mentor who spends an average of 4 to 6 hours a month with that young person. Mentors and mentees spend time building a bond through talking, working on projects, playing a sport together, or reading and working on academics.

In the school-based mentoring program, elementary school students are paired with a high school student mentor or an adult mentor. The mentor and child are matched for at least two consecutive school years and spend time once a week for 1 to 2 hours on schoolwork, reading, working on a project, or just talking about their day. Each week BBBS monitors these programs and implement structured activities such as arts and crafts and team-building exercises that the mentors and mentees do together.
