About Us

God's Storehouse is a non-profit food pantry, founded in 1987 by a group of local pastors, that distributes food to those in need in Danville and Pittsylvania County. We are completely funded by local congregations, individual donors, and grants and receive no government funding. At present we have five staff members: Executive Director, Assistant Director, Warehouse Manager, Van Driver, and USDA Clerk. In addition, we have two employees from the Southern Area Agency on Aging and two AmeriCorps VISTA's.

Over 80 weekly volunteers manage all other aspects of our daily operation. In 2013, our volunteers donated more than 19,000 hours of their time to serving their community with God's Storehouse.

At God's Storehouse, we serve two basic categories of clients: Those not eligible for food stamps, and those who are eligible for food stamps. Those not eligible for food stamps may receive food boxes every two (2) weeks. Clients receiving food stamps may receive food boxes once a month. In 2014, God's Storehouse gave away 34,516 boxes of food to families in need. Since 2004, we've seen over a 100% increase in the total number of food boxes distributed.
