About Us

Caring Like Family Hospice is a Medicare-certified private agency based in Marina del Rey. We care for patients--all over the Westside--whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek aggressive medical care at the end stage of life. Our hospice philosophy focuses on comfort care not curative care. Our goal in hospice care is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own home or the home of a loved one. Hospice care can also be provided in a long-term care facility or an assisted living facility.

We currently have need for both administrative and in-home volunteers. In-home support consists of providing companionship, relief care, running errands, and engaging in life review as well as assisting with light household chores, walking dogs, and/or interacting with family and caregivers. Administrative volunteer duties consists of answering telephones, filing, and assisting with special projects. We also welcome musicians, certified pet therapy providers, Reiki practitioners, and hairdressers who would be interested in donating services to those in hospice. All volunteers are an integral, invaluable part of our hospice team.

Most of our patients are 65 years of age or older; some reside in private residences while others are in assisted living facilities.

“You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die.”

--Cicely Saunders, nurse and physician who founded the hospice movement
