  • Mission

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Greene County Habitat for Humanity brings future homeowners and volunteers together to build safe and affordable homes, communities, and hope.

    About Us

Habitat for Humanity was established in Greene County, Georgia, in 1996, by John Ludwig. A charter was received from Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) in December of that year, forming Greene County Habitat for Humanity (Habitat).

The first Habitat house in Greene County was built in 1997. With continued growing support of the community, through both monetary contributions and volunteer services, a total of 52 homes have been built over the past two decaded. Two homes are built each year, continually adding to the total homes built.

Greene County Habitat for Humanity has been a tremendous asset and influence within the community. It has attracted approximately 300 volunteers throughout the area and has obtained support from numerous individuals, churches and businesses, all collaborating together to provide adequate and affordable housing for those in need. The ultimate goal is to end substandard housing within our county. By working together with others in the community, together this goal can be achieved.
