BID UGANDA Bugembe Initiative for Development (BID) is an action oriented community based organization dedicated to empowering women, youth and vulnerable persons through a holistic, socio-economic approach. BID UGANDA was also born out of the need to reach out the uncared, forgotten, HIV/AIDS orphans, abandoned, street children, homeless, and parentless children in the communities and our society who are hurting in life, through sharing God’s practical love and care. And sharing with them the greatest and changing gift of salvation full of love, compassion and healing. the increasing number of orphans in Uganda is due to HIV/AIDS, insurgency and needy abused and street children are due to poverty in families and loss of parents which is increasing every time and the extended families cannot sustain their pockets and care for them. Agriculture Saving & Credit Scheme Bugembe Initiative for Development (BID) established a micro credit and saving program that allows community members to borrow and save money. Through this program women and youth entrepreneurs have been able to start small business for sustainable livelihoods. Some of the achievement of this program includes; 1. Improved saving culture 2. Access to saving facility for women and youth entrepreneurs 3. Access to Capital through microloans 4. Business mentoring 5. Entrepreneurship training and financial management skills 6. CHILD WELFARE & EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT As a result of the HIV/AIDS scourge and the increasing number of dysfunctional families many children are out on the streets and some have remained orphans thus missing out on education.
