Commonweal Magazine

  • About Us

For more than 95 years, Commonweal Magazine, an independent journal of opinion edited and published by lay Catholics, has been influencing both church and society, both the Catholic world and the non-Catholic world. It is seen by many as a model for how the laity can claim its rightful place within the institutional church and for how faith can illuminate and endeavor to change the secular world. Commonweal strives to be a truly independent voice, faithful to the great Catholic tradition but questioning of the unexamined assumptions of church and society alike.
