About Us

Family Resource Center ("FRC") is a child welfare agency serving Miami-Dade County that provides a continuum of care for children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned by their parent(s). This means we coordinate all services needed including finding a safe and appropriate housing placement, getting the child medical, dental, and mental health care, providing after-school tutoring, and any additional needs that the child may have (such as clothing, diapers, car seat, stroller, etc.). In addition to direct services for kids, FRC also finds adoptive parents and handles all adoption paperwork, and operates a community mental health center where we provide child therapy, dyadic therapy (a bonding therapy between parent and infant), parenting education and supervised visitation services (for those parents who are not allowed to see their children without a third party present).

Family Resource Center is driven by the principle that nothing is more fundamental to a community than the safety and well being of its children. Our goal is to prevent and change dysfunctional parent/child interaction patterns, promote positive self-concepts, and build healthy relationships to prevent child abuse. In last year, Family Resource Center of South Florida provided services to more than 3,500 children, adolescents and adults. Through the provision of evidence-based, dignified and confidential services, we work to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect.
