Our purpose is to help to bring about a clearer understanding of the interrelationship of all life on earth, emphasizing the need for sustainable use of all the earth’s resources, including the human community, and to support the development of practical means to do so.
Through our programs we foster a greater awareness of the interrelationship of all life on earth and inspire and nurture the development of sustainable initiatives that respond to the critical issues of our region and the planet.
Our programs include conferences, forums, awards, and publications centered on the Hudson Valley—and attuned to global and national perspectives as well. Convening at the Mohonk Mountain House on Lake Mohonk atop the Shawangunk Ridge, our guests listen, share, brainstorm, and create grassroots initiatives that turn ideas into action for the common good.
Respect for diversity and the Quaker tradition of listening to the voices of others, as well as a deep appreciation of the gifts of nature, are all values at the heart of Mohonk Consultations. People with a range of perspectives attend our programs which offer direct opportunities for meaningful exchange among all participants. Mohonk’s ridgetop setting within thousands of acres of preserved land provides an immediate experience of the beauty of nature.
Mohonk Consultations values and engages in collaborative efforts to build stronger communities with resilient and sustainable systems. Given the growing concerns about climate change and global financial stability, it is ever more crucial for people to come together, discuss issues and explore solutions. We are proud to carry on the legacy of Mohonk’s tradition of creating opportunities for the meaningful and productive exchange of ideas.
