SaltDog Classic

On September 23, 2017 there will be dancing, surfing, and singing at the SaltDog Classic Festival. Live music, food, beer gardens, and games are coming to the beloved Seaside State Beach. Here is what event founder, Elan Saltman had to say; “Watch San Diego come to life with rock, skaw and reggae originals vibing the sandy shores. This year the SaltDog Crew has partnered with Rollin’ from the Heart to provide an all-day experience that will leave people smiling and proud to support their community.”  

Rollin from the Heart was started by John and Alison after the tragic passing of my friend and John’s son, Ian Berry. Ian was a fireball of energy that could surf, skate, bike and play ball in the same day. He had a roaming heart that always managed to give love back to his friends and family members. After his loss, John dedicated the next 5 years to growing a non-profit organization in honor of his son’s passions.

This local San Diego team provides at-risk and challenged youth an unforgettable experience by getting them skateboarding, surfing, and outside in nature. Through mentorship and community involvement, they have successfully brought inspiration and joy to thousands of kids who may have never been able to experience the rush of pavement under their feet, the beauty of nature in areas far from their neighborhoods, or the cool sea spray that hits your face when bouncing down a wave. Through these experiences, kids are able to develop an appreciation for health and the outdoors and better equipped to say no drugs and violence.

Setting the standards high, this will be the 3rd year for the SaltDog Classic beach day festival. The event will feature live bands, water sports, and a beer garden at Seaside State beach on Sept. 23rd. Proceeds of the SaltDog Classic will go to help the progress of this gracious non-profit.
