About Us

Austin Recovery is a compassionate, community-based substance use disorder treatment provider that helps individuals and families rebuild their lives free from drugs and alcohol.

Originally named Austin Rehabilitation Center or ARC, the Lavenders provided counseling, housing, and vocational training on their farm in Buda, Texas to individuals discharged and banned from the Austin State Hospital for being “chronic inebriates.” Over the next 51 years, Austin Recovery would address the needs of a changing population, culture, and marketplace to provide compassionate addiction treatment to those in the community who would have otherwise not been able to access it.

The organization continues to honor the spirit of Jim and Hazel by offering services that are accessible to all individuals and families in need, regardless of ability to pay.
