Southwest Regional Mental Health Board, Inc.

About Us

The Southwest Regional Mental Health Board, Inc. (SWRMHB) was established by the state legislature to serve as the community's voice in mental health. SWRMHB works to ensure a high-quality, recovery-oriented behavioral health system for residents of Southwestern CT by engaging community members in identifying needs, stimulating new initiatives, and advocating for improvements.

Our specific mandate is to identify and plan for service needs and to review and make recommendations about state-funded programs. We represent the needs of Southwestern CT at the regional and state level, providing input directly to the Commissioner of Mental Health and Addiction Services. In addition, we are very active in advocacy, awareness raising, and community education.

SWRMHB convenes two Catchment Area Councils (CACs) which serve as a venue for all stakeholders to work together on initiatives to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of the residents of Southwest CT. Our CAC membership includes consumers of mental health services and their family members, appointed municipal representatives, behavioral health providers, and social services representatives.

SWRMHB serves 14 municipalities: Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, New Canaan, Monroe, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, and Wilton.
