STAR Learning Center of NYC

Star is an all volunteer, after school and summer,free tutoring center for children with academic difficulties. The goal of the program is to help each child improve his/her academic skills, to foster school success and increase positive attitudes towards school. This is done by individually testing each child in the areas of reading, writing and math and using that information to match the child with a volunteer tutor.

Star has been in existence on West 84th Street in New York City for over 30 years. Students are referred by schools, testing clinics, social service agencies and by parents.

Star is one of the programs of Goddard Riverside Community Center, which serves the community with other programs such as Head Start, Day Care, Meals on Wheels, Afterschool, Summer Camp, senior programs and prgrams for the homeless.
