  • Mission

Interpreting the past, discovering the future, through Art, Sound, and Motion. The Morris Museum creates opportunities for lifelong learning, discovery and creativity, driven by the contemporary interpretation of its Guinness Collection of Mechanical Musical Instruments and Automata as well as its general collections. The performing arts add further unique perspectives and dimensions of interpretation.

    About Us

Spark!Lab is a hands-on invention workspace where children and their families can learn and engage in the history and process of invention. Morris Museum's Spark!Lab is one of only 10 Spark!Labs in the nation. Spark!Lab is the flagship educational initiative of the Smithsonian's Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation. Spark!Lab is looking for volunteers or "ambassadors" interested in working with children and families. Volunteers or "ambassadors," are asked to share their time and talents for at least 2 four hour shifts during a month. This opportunity is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children, tinkering, experimenting or has an interest in invention, history, and science. Share your talents and help to inspire the next generation of inventors and inventions.
