  • About Us

    AMIGOS is an international, volunteer-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to advance community development, empower young leaders and strengthen multi-cultural understanding within the Americas. AMIGOS was founded in 1965 and has since grown to include more than 24 Training Chapters throughout the U.S. Youth volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and have completed at least 2 years of high school Spanish or have equivalent fluency. Volunteers travel to one of nine Latin American countries for a five to eight week period during the summer. Living with host families and working in small groups of 2-4 volunteers per community, the students collaborate with established organizations to help reinforce their public health and youth development programs.
