    About Us

    Values:

    1. Fun – Singers enjoy being in the choir and see it as the highlight of their week.
    2. Community-Focused – Participation in the choir combats loneliness, provides opportunities to build friendships and strengthens a sense of community.
    3. Prevention-Oriented – Singing contributes to the physical and mental well-being of older adults.
    4. Accessible – All singers are accepted regardless of physical ability or economic situation.
    5. Compassionate – Sounds Good Choir singers, staff, and volunteers are kind, caring, and have generous hearts.
    6. Encouraging – Conductors help singers to improve regardless of starting point.
    7. Inclusive – Everyone is welcome; we don’t have auditions and singers don’t need to be able to read music.
    8. Professionally-Led – Singers enjoy access to expert choral musicians and conductors.
    9. Welcoming – Sounds Good Choir embraces all older adults, including those facing memory loss, and celebrates the unique lived experiences each person brings to our community.
    10. Grounded in and Contributing to Research – Program follows and contributes to the science and discourse about the value of singing for older adults and older adults with dementia.
