About Us

In 2008, Edgar and Holli began The Martinez Foundation declaring an ambitious goal:

To ensure that every student in Washington State, regardless of race or socioeconomic status, has access to highly effective teachers. The existing opportunity gap in education simply must be eliminated.

Scholarships & Support Programs:

The Martinez Foundation provides annual talent and need-based Master in Teaching scholarships and support programs to increase and retain the number of teachers of color in Washington State’s underserved public schools. The Martinez Fellows are committed to eliminating the opportunity gap. The Foundation is committed to providing continuing educational and mentor support to our 50+ Fellows throughout their teaching careers.
