The ALS Association - Kentucky Chapter

About Us

The ALS Association - Kentucky Chapter supports people living with ALS and their loved ones through services and education.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS is a progressive nervous system disease that destroys nerves cells and causes disability. ALS often beings with muscle twitching and weakness in a limb, or slurred speech. Eventually, ALS affects control of the muscles needed to move, speak, eat, and breath.

There is no cure for ALS. The expected lifespan of someone diagnosed with ALS is two to five years. The ALS Association is constantly researching for the cure of this progressive neurodegenerative disease.

The ALS Association hopes to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.
