Transitions Foundation of Guatemala

The mission of Transitions is to empower Guatemalans with disabilities through programs dedicated to rehabilitation, education, social integration, vocational and leadership training, employment opportunities, and fabrication and distribution of mobility equipment.

Transitions is committed to improving the quality of life of Guatemalans with disabilities who might otherwise lack access to the opportunities needed to become independent, successful, and happy members of their society.

Transitions operates six social development programs dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities: (1) Wheelchair Workshop, (2) Prosthetic & Orthotic Clinic, (3) Print Shop & Graphic Design Center, (4) Special Education Classroom, (5) Educational Scholarships, and (6) Wheelchair Basketball Program. Throughout all of its programs, Transitions strives to provide leadership training and jobs to people with disabilities. Of the individuals Transitions employs, over 50% are disabled, and all of these individuals first started as participants in Transitions’ programs.
