Gift of Life Family House

Gift of Life Family House provides a "home away from home" for transplant patients and their families. The Family House relies on donations from the community to sustain the incredibly important resources offered to support transplant families. Gifts of any level are meaningful and there are many ways to help.

Mission Statement

Gift of Life Family House, is dedicated to advancing the well-being and health of adult and pediatric transplant patients and their family members and caregivers. By providing temporary lodging and supportive services for families of transplant patients undergoing treatment at area health care facilities in Philadelphia,

Gift of Life Family House endeavors to enhance the lives of transplant patients and to lessen the burdens for families supporting these patients.

Gift of Life Family House becomes a home to its residents by addressing three basic needs of a family in a stressful situation:

1. Family House provides comfortable and affordable lodging, in a warm, friendly atmosphere including a private bedroom and facilities for cooking, laundry and recreation.
2. Family House provides an emotional support system with other residents, staff and volunteers who act in the capacity of extended family and friends through open communication of feelings of concern. Quiet areas are available for those times when a family or individual needs to be alone.
3. Family House provides a way to re-establish a sense of control or responsibility in one's life by creating a cooperative and supportive atmosphere. Family members are required to maintain their own rooms, prepare their own meals and help with general tidiness in the common areas of the Family House. Families are asked to pay a nightly guest fee and are expected to do so if they are able.
