  • Mission

The Washington Architecture Foundation (WAF), founded in 1988 by AIA|DC, is committed to using its resources to make a difference in our diverse community. We strive to create public engagement in Architecture that fosters awareness and vitality, impacting the District and its residents for future generations.

    About Us

We are architects, engineers, planners, landscape architects, teachers, and students working to improve access to all the benefits and opportunity that design offers. Through programs in and out of school, scholarships, design services for community non-profits, and design competition that supports the Capital Area Food Bank, WAF uses its resources wisely to offer help and make change where it is needed most.
