University Hospitals Mom Power Program

About Us

Mom Power is a group parenting/mental health intervention aimed at mothers of infants, toddlers and preschoolers. This is a 13-week manualized group treatment that includes both moms and their young kids; it's implementation here in Cleveland reflects a collaborative effort between UH, Metro, Ohio Guidestone and Connections. As it is an intensive model, it does require a substantial team, and volunteers would really be an integral part of that. Their experience would also include at least one introductory session led by a child psychologist and child psychiatrist on early childhood development and the theories behind Mom Power. The volunteers will also have the opportunity to administer research measures to our participants. They provide child care over a ten week period and share their impressions about the child's functioning with the team. Meals are included in each session.
