About Us

Mindful Living is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to the growth of individuals and communities through education and healthy living.

Founded in 2009, Mindful Living began work on its first community garden with an empty residential lot on North Drake Avenue in Chicago. This mostly Latino neighborhood worked hard alongside Mindful Living volunteers to create a new and sustainable source for organic produce in just two short years. Six raised beds, a custom 3-bin composting system, and an array of beautiful annuals and perennials make this previous eyesore a new and thriving community center.

During the growing season, Mindful Living meets weekly with neighborhood volunteers to tend to the garden and conduct workshops on organic gardening, nutrition, physical education and more.
