  • Mission

The mission of the ILCIRA is to coordinate access to the education, training, consultation, and support needed to assist emergency responders within the aquatics community to better manage the aftermath of a critical incident.

    About Us

Critical Incident Stress Management Services will be provided by an Aquatic Critical Incident Response Team (AqCIRT). Interventions will be provided by certified Lifeguard Peer Support Volunteers (LPSVs) and Mental Health Providers (MHPs) following the protocols of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF).

ILCIRA has direct responsibility for the overall organization of the AqCIRT, the success of which depends upon a true intra-agency effort. The AqCIRT is intended to be an intra-agency partnership with local aquatics management teams, accreditation bodies and aquatics associations which provides support after Critical Incidents to Lifeguards, Allied Aquatics Professionals and their Aquatic Management Teams.
