The extensive mission of NotJustSkin.org is to address the information gaps, the social pressures, and the human rights issues around childbirth and early childhood.

We promote the kinder treatment of parents and children, including: • Eliminating oppressions (the -isms) • Avoiding detrimental medical interventions • Looking openly at social constructions • Encouraging family and community bonds • Empowering warmer human relationships • Being informed about all choices These elements are important before, during, and after birth, during all stages of childhood, and during adult life. They often require both sharing information and providing social support.

Our work provides information about and encouragement for practices that bring parents and children closer and encourage positive bonds between them. Our articles make scientific information about alternatives to questionable and harmful medical procedures understandable.
