FIELD Program

Jefferson County FIELD, Farmer Innovation, Education, and Leadership Development

Jefferson County FIELD is an innovative educational program offered by local farmers in conjunction with the Jefferson County WSU Small Farms Team. The FIELD program provides beginning farmers with a multidisciplinary study into sustainable agriculture by combining a field-based internship on an Olympic Peninsula farm with formal instruction from a variety of local farmers and experts.

The goal of the FIELD program is to provide a new generation of farmers with the skills and knowledge necessary to (a) begin farming or have farm-related careers, (b) promote leadership skills in sustainable agriculture and local healthy food systems, and (c) develop and support innovative practices related to sustainable agriculture.
