    River Otter Ecology Project leverages river otter charm to support conservation of waters and lands. We use education, community science, advocacy, and research to provide data and help people understand how it can be used to protect our planet. As we know, life on earth is in urgent trouble and it takes every one of us to support a healthy future.

    About Us

    ROEP is a research, community science, and education nonprofit supporting watershed conservation with river otters as our flagship species. Launched in 2012, ROEP is the only organization in California to research and link river otter population recovery to watershed health and conservation.

    Programs:

    Community Science "Otter Spotter" track sand documents river otter recovery the SF Bay Area.

    Otter Ambassadors, taking Otter Spotter knowledge to neighborhoods to support local environmental conservation measures through community interaction.

    Education for adults and children on the importance of watershed health

    Hands-On-Science brings together students, scientists, and teachers to explore conservation concepts.

    Advocacy for best management decisions on public lands6) Focused research, investigating population, range, behavior and seasonal prey preferences of river otters.
