Campaign for an Elected Civilian Review Board
We are a coalition of organizations and individuals fighting for an Elected Civilian Review Board (ECRB) to replace the ineffective current Civilian Complaint Review Board in New York City. We seek to achieve this crucial change through an amendment to the NYC Charter. The ECRB is a necessary mechanism to stop police violence and give real recourse to victims of police abuse. It would empower the community with oversight and measures to hold the police accountable for their protocols and actions. Members of the ECRB would be elected at a grassroots community level.
We work together democratically to win this reform and consciously build the participation and leadership of those most affected by police violence. We make decisions by majority vote in meetings and participation is open to all those who agree with our goal.
