  • About Us

    The Friends of the Bourne of the Rail Trail is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Bourne through the development of a rail-trail which will directly connect the Shining Sea Bikeway in Falmouth with the Cape Cod Canal Path in Bourne and Sandwich. By developing the Trail, the Friends aim to: 

    • Improve the quality of life in Bourne for Bourne residents; 
    • Provide recreation opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages; 
    • Support local businesses and economic development;
    • Create a safe route for kids to walk, skate, and bike to school; 
    • Ensure that Bourne is part of the growing Cape- and statewide trail network;
    • Utilize the publicly owned Falmouth Secondary Line to serve a public purpose;
