About Us

Our Mission

ACE builds the power of communities of color and low income communities in Massachusetts to eradicate environmental racism and classism, create healthy, sustainable communities, and achieve environmental justice.

Our Vision of Change

Systemic change means moving beyond solving problems one by one to eliminating the root causes of environmental injustice. ACE is anchoring a movement of people who have been excluded from decision-making to confront power directly and demand fundamental changes, so together we can achieve our right to a healthy environment.

We have four strategies that move our work to acheieve our mission and vision:

  1. Roxbury Environmental Empowerment Project (REEP) is a youth-led, adult supported environmental justice community organizing program that builds youth power, membership and movement by developing the leadership of young people, winning youth-led campaigns and classroom based action projects.
  2. T Riders Union (TRU) organizes transit riders to fight for first-class service in greater Bostonis a voice and movement for equitable public transportation in lower income communities and communities of color. We demand respect, equaility, accountability, first-class service, accessibility, affordability and comfort.
  3. Environmental Justice Legal Services (EJLS) provides legal, technical and capacity building support to resident groups working for environmental justice.
  4. Dudley Square Organizing Project (DSOP) builds ACE's membership base in our home neighborhood of Roxbury, engaging residents and community stake-holders in campaigns to achieve environmental justice.
