Vesalius College was founded in 1987 by Boston University and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in order to provide outstanding young students with an opportunity to pursue a broad-ranging, but rigorous American-style education in the heart of Europe. The college offers 3-year Bachelor degrees in International Affairs, Communications and Business as well as the MSc in European Union Policy(in cooperation with the Institute for European Studies of the VUB). The College also runs the successful European Peace and Security Studies Programme (EPSS) in cooperation with the Belgian Royal , the University of Kent, the Institute for European Studies and the Global Governance Institute.
Its teaching methods are characterised by small, interactive classes, flexibility in course selection and continuous assessment. With an international student body of approx. 300 students (50 + nationalities), and a low student-teacher ratio, the faculty is accessible and takes a personal interest in the success of the students. Study abroad and internship possibilities with prestigious partners and institutions are available. Vesalius College is accredited by the Dutch Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO) and registered with the Flemish government as a higher education institution.
The Master of Science in European Union Policy (MSc EUP) is a one-year, full-time programme, which leads to a Master of Science Degree accredited by the Dutch- Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO). It is designed to provide graduate students with a comprehensive knowledge and expert understanding of European integration and the institutions of the European Union (EU). This distinctive academic curriculum provides students with tools to analyse political, economic and judicial aspects of the EU as a region of internal and global interactions.
