The Cornwall Library is a welcoming community resource for all, promoting lifelong learning and the free exchange of ideas.

    About Us

Nestled in the hills of Cornwall, Connecticut, we are the cultural and intellectual heart of our community — where literature, the arts, and civic life converge. Founded on the belief that great libraries belong to everyone, our mission is simple: to be a welcoming community resource for all, promoting lifelong learning and the free exchange of ideas.

We serve the full Cornwall community — longtime residents and newer arrivals alike — through thriving literary, children's, arts, nature, and community programming, including our beloved speaker series and signature events like Books & Blooms and the Labor Day Art Sale.

Literacy in its broadest sense drives everything we do. We've grown significantly in recent years — expanding our programming, fundraising, and community reach — while staying true to our roots as a trusted, deeply loved local institution. Backed by an engaged board, a dedicated staff, a healthy endowment, and a community that genuinely shows up for us, we're a small organization with an outsized impact on the cultural and civic life of our town.
