Smart Surfaces Coalition

  • About Us

The Smart Surfaces Coalition is a non-profit organization of 40+ partners such as Habitat for Humanity, World Resources Institute, Rocky Mountain Institute, the American Public Health Association, the National League of Cities, International Downtown Association, and Trust for Public Land. The Coalition supports the rapid adoption of Smart Surfaces — a term encompassing reflective, porous, and green surfaces, solar PV and urban trees, as well integrated solutions — city-wide, initially in the US, India, and Southern Europe. City-wide adoption of Smart Surfaces can cost-effectively cool cities by ~1 degree Celsius per decade through 2050, stem flooding, improve public health, and save cities money, with the most significant benefits accruing in low-income areas.
