Straight Talk provides critical educational, training, and mental health services to economically challenged families and individuals.

Straight Talk Counseling’s mission is to make a variety of mental health, substance abuse, and prevention services affordable and available to individuals whose access to such services are generally limited, restricted, or otherwise unavailable. Headquartered in Orange County, Straight Talk Clinic has offered affordable, high-quality counseling, substance abuse recovery to the community since it was founded in 1971. Each year, we serve approximately 1,500 individuals out of our outpatient clinics in Santa Ana and La Mirada, onsite at several schools in Orange County and Los Angeles County, and Gerry House, a 12-bed recovery home in Santa Ana.

Our clinic offers mental health counseling for families, couples, individuals, and groups in a supportive and caring environment in which personal growth and well-being can be nurtured. Our counseling services cover a wide array of mental health needs, including: anxiety and stress reduction, psychological testing, relationship coaching, and psycho-educational groups, such as anger management, self-regulation, social skills, parenting your teen, healthy attachment, and adolescent drug prevention. Straight Talk Clinic’s services strive to create resilience, improve levels of functioning, and provide tools and strategies that will ultimately benefit both families and the community. We have been meeting the mental health needs of low-income Southern California residents for nearly five decades, contributing to improvements in the overall mental health of our community.

Straight Talk Clinic has built a reputation as one of the premier training facilities for students in Master’s and Doctoral-level programs leading to licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist by the Board of Psychology.

To keep pace with the anticipated needs in the County, Straight Talk seeks to identify a leader who can implement new and emerging programs, identify and secure additional, diverse sources of funding and recruit, retain and promote top-tier professionals to implement strategy for the organization.

Straight Talk has historically been funded by government and quasi-governmental organizations. Moving forward, it seeks to enlist more support from individuals, foundations, and businesses and by partnering with similar community-based organizations. The transition from one-source to multi-source funding will require planning, networking and execution skills.
