Hack the Hood/Center for Media Change
439 International Blvd
Our Mission: Hack the Hood provides real-world, hands-on learning opportunities and mentorship that help low-income youth of color learn the skills and form the relationships they need to chart a course towards 21st century careers in online technology and social media.
Our Programs: We have two core programs: In our 6-week bootcamps, youth develop professional skills and career awareness, as well as receive training in basic computer skills, web marketing and promotion, and website development, which they then use to build mobile-responsive websites for small business clients. After bootcamp, youth join our membership program and move toward personalized education and career goals through career coaching, case management, tech and skills-building workshops, and field trips. We help youth learn about, apply for, and stay engaged in tech industry skills programs, internships and apprenticeships, entrepreneurial projects, college classes, dev bootcamp programs, and better-paying jobs.
