About Us

The Virginia Health Care Foundation is a public/private partnership focused on increasing access to primary health care for uninsured and medically underserved in Virginia. It accomplishes this by providing grant funding and capacity building support for local medical, dental, and behavioral health services; by helping uninsured adults obtain free prescription medications via The Pharmacy Connection software; and by promoting enrollment of Virginia's children in the state child-health insurance programs (FAMIS and FAMIS Plus). Over the past 20 years, VHCF grants totaling $40.1 million have contributed to a 618% increase in heatlh care safety net sites in Virginia (from 33 to 204).
