Professionals' Association for Action and Development
Professionals' Association for Action and Development (PAAD) is a humanitarian, non-profit, non-government organization (NGO), registered in Orissa dedicated to the upliftment of the underprivileged children in slums through community development programs and local capacity building.
Established in the year 1991, by dedicated professionals from diverse backgrounds such as agriculture, engineering, medicine and science, PAAD is a small step towards the upliftment of the underprivileged children in slums and other backward areas. Its mission is to improve the quality of life by providing basic and elementary education to the underprivileged children by building infrastructure for schools and related activities that build local capacity in the communities.
Currently we are actively involved in providing basic and elementary education for more than 200 slum children in Shikharchandinagar and Jallimunda tribal basti of Bhubaneswar, contributing to their education and all round development. All our children are from lowest income – strata; families of whom are more concerned about earning two square meals. Bringing these kids to any kind of education means lot of persuasion and efforts on our part. We have to arrange free transportation, uniform, books and teaching material, nutrition supplements and medical facilities wherever needed.
