Mission Statement To reduce unemployment, poverty, illiteracy and homelessness by assisting those classified as low-income earners, high risk and vulnerable population through non-traditional community based education, and social support services.

Our programs and services (10 points) New Covenant Community Development Corporation (NCCDC) is a registered faith based not for profit 501 © corporation, located in Bronx, New York. NCCDC works to reduce unemployment, poverty, illiteracy and homelessness by assisting those classified as low-income earners, high risk and vulnerable population through non-traditional community based education, and social support services. They include: Job Training and Development (including Leadership and Life Skills Training), Educational Support in Bilingual Classes/GED, Computer Skills Building, Counseling/Guidance, Credit Repairs/Counseling and Financial Planning and Budgeting. We also offer Housing Assistance/Homeless Prevention and Job Placement services (when required). We utilize a value-based curriculum, and employ both preventive and curative measures in achieving our goals.

Projects Goals The project goals include: (a) Provide General Education Diploma (GED) and other college preparation assistance to help out of school youths to secure the GED, and to successfully enroll in a four year college or a two year vocational training institute. (b) Provide an After School/College Support Program to assist marginal students to remain in college for the required time. (c) Offer counseling, re-orientation and mentorship support to help out of school youths to deal with the challenges of social disconnect caused by poverty and their cultural/ethnic orientation. (d) Reduce unemployment by providing adult skills training (including language classes and life skills) for under skilled adults and recent immigrants who are limited in the use of the English Language. (e) Retrain unemployed adults to respond more effectively to unemployment, and to develop the skills that they require to be gainfully employed.

Our Target Population NCCDC serves the low income families ranging from zip codes 10451 – 10469 with an office base in Morrisania – South West Bronx, which is classified among the highest risk neighbourhoods in the Bronx, and as one of the poorest communities in America, where children face the highest level of risk to their well being. Specifically, our target population comprises of out of school/troubled youths (including youths aging out of foster care), unemployed and under skilled adults, drop-out young men, recent immigrants and welfare/single mothers and women who are of minority origin, and belong to the low income bracket and reside in the Bronx.
